Project Description:

The purpose of this project is to research the feasibility of developing an ultra-low NOx catalytic pilot burner for advanced industrial dry low NOx gas turbines.  A prototype pilot burner will be fabricated and tested.

Proposed Outcomes:

·        Full scale prototype of the low NOx catalytic pilot burner.

·        Feasibility assessment based on prototype performance testing in Taurus 60 combustor test rig.

Anticipated Benefits:

·        Reduce NOx emissions from dry low NOx gas turbines from 25 ppm to below 9 ppm and reduce CO emissions to less than 5 ppm.

·        Provide cost effective alternative to expensive after treatment NOx reduction technologies.

·        Designed for retrofit market and new turbine construction which increases its potential impact on California emissions.
