Grant Amount:  $74,988

Grant Term:  12 Months

Project Description:

Proposes to research the feasibility of developing a low NOx porous ceramic burner design that will meet the emission requirements, mitigate the use of post-combustion emissions control technologies, and a practical burner shape that produces higher radiation heat release rate than the existing free flame burners.

Proposed Outcomes:

§         A porous ceramic burner will be fabricated with R-type thermocouples embedded at the interfaces of different porosity ceramics.  A radiance measurement system will be constructed.

Anticipated Benefits:

§         Potential to increase the efficiency and reduce the NOx emissions from boilers used for power generation in California.
