Statement of Work

Agripower  - Renewable Generation Agricultural Waste and

Forest Thinnings-to-Energy in a Transportable Biomass

Turbine-Generated Power Plant

Mr. Perry E. McLain

Project Objectives

Test and troubleshoot the fuel feed and fluidized bed combustion control system to demonstrate:

1)     a generation capacity of 200 kWe

2)    optimum consumption and combustion of fuel at a given rate (500-750# per hour).

Project Tasks

1.0        Fuel Feed System

1.1       Calibrate the system for fuel feed rate vs. screw speed & mA settings. Begin at 0 to 750 #/per hour.

1.2       Analyses of fuel sample (ultimate and proximate analyses)

2.0        Design and Program Instrumentation, Controllers and Computer System Using Soft PLC Approach

2.1       Design and program system in soft PLC software.

2.2       Generate curves to show relationships and optimum operating conditions between operating parameters at various operating conditions.

2.2.1       Calculate temp vs. time after startup

2.2.1.1Radiant heat exchanger furnace exit air (to turbine combustor)

2.2.1.2Bed temperature

2.2.1.3Flue gas temp and O2 analysis

2.2.1.4Primary air temp

2.2.1.5Turbine outlet temp

2.2.1.6Secondary air temp

2.2.2       Calculate load vs. radiant heat exchanger exit air and turbine outlet temp

2.2.3       Calculate diesel fuel decrease vs. time after startup (as biomass increases; specify biomass rate also)

2.2.4       Calculate primary and secondary air blower speeds vs. time and inlet temperature

2.2.5       Calculate screw feeder speed vs. blower speeds

Reporting Requirements:
